Women's Ministry

For the women of Gashland to experience the fullness of Christ by equipping them for vibrant relationship with Him and each other.

Connecting & Gathering

Around the Table

Creating connections as our women share a simple meal and gospel-centered conversation. Six women enjoying two hours around one table! New dates and times are available every month to build community with a new mix of ladies each time. With rotating hostesses and participants, you never know who you might meet or get to know better over a meal or coffee. To sign up, visit our lobby table the last two Sundays of each month. If you can’t sign up in person, email women@gashland.org or call Lisa Miller at 816-813-1236 for a list of the upcoming dates and to sign up.

Christmas Tea | December 7th

Gathering women to pause during the busy Christmas season, to reflect on our Savior, and to invite friends and family to experience the true joy of Emmanuel – God with us. We will alternate yearly between the Christmas Tea and the chapel Advent Experience. We welcome volunteers to help with planning, hospitality, decorations, and more – there are opportunities for all interests and talents to get involved!

Apples of Gold | Seasonal Encouragement

Proverbs 25:11 tells us that “A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in a setting of silver.” This ministry pairs up women who would like to be encouraged or have a heart to encourage (or both!) through notes, text, emails, phone calls, etc. Kind of like a “secret pal” but not done in secret! Watch the Link for more information and sign-up opportunities in early 2022.

Coffee Talk

Invite a friend for a cuppa. Let us cover the cost! You may benefit from Coffee Talk if:

  • You want to get to know someone in the church but don’t know where to start.
  • You like coffee. Or tea. Or water…because Starbucks has that too.
  • Building friendship over something scrumptious is your “cup of tea” (I know, we’re hilarious).
  • Your soul needs connection, but big groups aren’t your scene.
  • Sundays aren’t enough time to really “get to know” someone.
  • You’re new to Gashland and need a friend.
  • Gashland’s your home…and you need a friend.
  • You have lots of friends and want to extend friendship to another.

Grab a gift card (free at our ministry table the last two Sundays of each month, or available at the church office) and invite another Gashland sister to join you for a coffee date.

Equipping

A Day of Prayer | October 9th, 8:30 am-2:00pm

Block off this time and join us to slow down, hear from God, and respond to Him. Through guided prayer times, times to be still, and times to go off on your own, our hope is to help you reflect, recharge, regroup and reconnect with your Creator. Registration coming in September. A suggested $15 donation covers lunch and a journal.

Glimpses of Gospel Grace | September 19th, 3:00 pm

This event is a quarterly opportunity where women are equipped to approach life’s challenges through a gospel perspective by providing tools through reading, discussion, and sharing. Jesus promised we’d encounter various troubles in life, and these difficulties often reveal our fears, weaknesses, and doubts. These challenges may involve our marriages, families, physical or spiritual health. Yet through Jesus we have received grace upon grace. Grace that offers comfort for our deepest and often hidden pain, strength when we feel burnt out or battered down, and healing for relational wounds.

With the bewildering reality of an ever-evolving global pandemic, the September gathering will address the topic of anxiety. Pick up a copy of the Elyse Fitzpatrick book Overcoming Fear, Worry and Anxiety to read on your own, and then join in a group discussion September 19th at 3:00 pm in the Chapel. Contact Deb Michaud (deb.michaud@crossworld.org) with any questions.

Bible Studies

Precepts Study | Beginning September 13th & 16th

Our Precepts groups are in-depth studies led by Carol Bryan weekly at the church. Participants commit to consistent attendance and weekly homework. A 9-week study will begin in September on Kings and Prophets: A Divided Heart…A Divided Nation. What happens when your heart is divided? What lessons can we learn for our lives today from the examples of Solomon, Rehoboam, Jeroboam, and Abijam? What does God do when His people trust their own judgment and disobey Him? Day group meets Thursdays from 1:00-2:30 pm. Evening group meets Mondays from 6:00-7:30 pm.  Contact Carol Bryan (314-277-5619, bryancarolann@yahoo.com). Cost for materials is $18 and sign-up is requested by September 8th.

Virtual Study | Beginning September 13th

This fall we’re kicking off a weekly virtual study and fellowship group, alternating between 6 weeks of daytime meetings and then 6 weeks of evening meetings.

Short & Sweet will be our first 6 week virtual study, meeting Mondays at 11:00 am starting September 13. This is a new twist on studying Scripture inspired by a method taught by Anne Graham Lotz. Each week, as we study a Psalm, you will learn and apply this simple 5-step process as well as diving deeper into the Psalm. There is no homework. Class will start with a time of prayer and should last approximately one hour. Contact Lisa Miller (lisam0724@gmail.com, 816-813-1236) to sign up to participate and receive the Zoom link.

Evening Gathering | Beginning September 16th

Join other women for a time or prayer and biblical discussion the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month from 6:45-8:45 pm in the Chapel. This semester Melissa Cable will be facilitating a discussion on the attributes of God, all straight from Scripture. Sometimes we forget all that God is, focusing on ourselves or the world, when all that we need is found in Him and who He is. Come be reminded of the God who loves you. Some prep is helpful but not necessary. Contact Melissa Cable (314-518-0337, melissapcable@gmail.com) with any questions.

Bible Study Fellowship | Beginning September 16th

BSF is an international, interdenominational, multicultural, and multigenerational Bible study. The KC Northland Day Women’s Class (which includes preschool classes, ages 0-kindergarten) meets from 9:40 to 11:15 am on Thursdays. This year’s study is The Gospel of Matthew. Contact Cheryl Sanders at  cheryl.j.sanders@sbcglobal.net or visit bsfinternational.org for information or to register.

Morning Circle | Beginning September 21st

The Morning Circle meets for Bible study and prayer the 3rd Tuesday of the months September through May from 9:30-11:00 am in the Fellowship Hall. Linda VanDerWeele is leading the group in a study of the Psalms, with no required preparation to participate. New members are welcome – come study, pray, and fellowship with us whenever you are able. Contact Cindy Harris (816-792-3031) with any questions.

Martha Circle | Beginning September 21st

The Martha Circle meets the 3rd Tuesday from 6:30-8:30 pm in rotating homes September-November and January-May. Pam Parker will be leading a 6 lesson Precepts Ministries study called Jesus: Experiencing His Touch, which looks at the Gospel of Mark chapters 1-6. No commitment necessary – come the months that you can to enjoy prayer, fellowship, & study. Contact Linda Reeve (816-550-9128) with any questions.

Women’s Sunday School Class | Weekly

Laura Cooper leads this group which meets at 9:45 am every Sunday in the Chapel. This September they will launch a study into Spiritual Disciplines for the Christian Life. Spiritual Disciplines are those practices found in Scripture which help us to grow in our walk with Christ. This study will outline these disciplines, explain why each is important, and share practical ways to make them a part of our lives as Christian women.
